From an early age, April was fascinated by the ways space and place shape the human experience. What began as an interest in architecture and interior design soon turned into a deeper calling—the sacred places within people’s stories and the desire to create a safe, supportive space for healing. As a military spouse for over fifteen years, April has lived in many different places, each with its own culture and community. Those years opened her eyes to both the beauty and challenges of change, transition, and resilience. They also deepened her compassion for the struggles people face and strengthened her commitment to walk alongside others in their journeys. In 2022, after her husband’s retirement, April and her family settled in Portland and she pursued her passion for counseling, and graduated from Western Seminary. April’s approach to counseling is trauma-informed and rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which emphasizes the power of language and its influence on thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors. She values evidence-based tools and strategies, while also utilizing creativity and flexibility to meet the unique needs of each client. She believes healing happens best when the cultural, social, and lifestyle contexts that shape each person’s story are acknowledged and honored. Above all, she strives to provide a space where people feel seen, heard, and valued. April’s goal is to walk with clients in a way that respects their experience, fosters healing, and supports lasting growth. April is a big fan of her husband, kids, and outdoor adventures, preferably all together. She enjoys the creative process, a good story, supporting her community, and the power of gathering around the table for a meal.  April is currently a Professional Counselor Associate and working toward independent licensure while under supervision. April is currently working with ages 5+ and their families.
